About Gail's Gallery...
Artists Profile: ABIGAIL PARKER
Born to a Yorkshire farming family, my interest in art started in early childhood. However, needing to "go get a proper job", and lacking confidence in my artistic abilities, I didn't pursue it as I should have, but instead went into teaching. I taught Special Needs in England, and eventually migrated to Western Australia with my young family in 1988, where we established a large and extremely busy commercial goat dairy in Gidgegannup.

Retiring from full-time farming gave me the opportunity to pursue my neglected interest in art, taking Certificate 4 in Visual Arts and Crafts (Rockingham TAFE), then a B.A. in Fine Arts (OUA).
These studies gave me the skills and the confidence to strike out on my own, and develop and refine my own style of work. They also gave me the tools to 'go digital'. This website has branched off from my original EcoWorks site (created for Uni, and totally neglected now), which was intended for artists concerned about Ecology and protecting our Environment.
Since moving to Albany in 2013, and taking part in local exhibitions, I have been increasingly fortunate with sales and commissions, and I decided to create Gail's Gallery as my online working portfolio and mail-order Store.
For my actual physical Gallery, I now have my studio open to visitors on a regular basis, and at any time by appointment...

My artwork is very much inspired by nature, and by ecological issues. A country girl, I've always been a bit of a 'Greenie'. I've fought for environmental issues all my life. I'm now particularly concerned with promoting the awareness and conservation of rare and endangered flora and fauna in my local region. By spot-lighting the beauty and uniqueness of this one small areas biodiversity, I hope to enable viewers to step back, and to marvel about the miracle of life - before taking their own steps forward, towards shaping a sustainable and ecologically balanced future...
