Mixed Media
Beachdrift, 2015
Commentary on the plastic tsunami drowning our oceans, and the effect of our single-use, throw-away consumer society on our wildlife.
FireWeb, 2012
Woven intricately over Time, all sections supporting and structuring each other....
- The Web and its shadow symbolise Environment/Life, as an ordered natural system.
- When freed of this natural order by human interference, as we control and manipulate our world, the tightly interwoven system loses its structure and starts to fall apart.
- Fire, Mans earliest form of Environmental manipulation, attempts to illuminate the Threads which weave the Web, and to bring order and control...
- However, control is so easily lost.
- Chaos and destruction are inevitable, and the Threads of the Web are finally consumed.
'Not Waving, but Drowning....' 2011
This series of collage works reflect upon ecosystem and habitat destruction, consumerism and overpopulation, and how these human factors - albeit unintentionally - link to the long-term effects of global warming.
